This happens all the time and it's not restricted to women.
WWE wants Kelly Kellys and Lex Lugers as ideals. AJ Lee was told she was unfuckable and so couldn't make it. Awesone Kong was told she was way too fat and so couldn't make it. Famously Benoit, Eddie, Jericho, Malenko etc quit WCW because they were sick of being seen as flippy midgets Charlotte looks like an alien in a human costume. If she wasn't Flair's daughter she'd be a jobber in TNA with a bad gimmick like a nun or a lesbian or something. WWE creative always gets first impressions on look, ever since "WWF creative" was just Vince and Pat Patterson talking shit by their pool

Because they were stick thin career models who had no athletic ability whatsoever.

If we were to rank the women's division based on looks, promo ability and acting skills then Charlotte would be near the bottom
But she's closer the top when it comes to athleticism. I think WWE values athleticism much more now so its probably best to mute the mic during talking segments. Very few of today's Superstars can actually carry a talking segment... |
