Daniel Bryan turns down contract extension

So apparently Daniel Bryan was offered a huge contract extension by WWE to continue in his non wrestling role and he said no thanks. So if this is true seems pretty clear Bryan will be back in the ring somewhere once his current WWE contract ends.

If WWE is teasing the idea of Bryan getting back in the ring in order to extend his contract, it would be really stupid of him to sign that extension before they give him the option of returning to the ring.
(1) Dean Ambrose (2) Pete Dunne (3) 'Cien' Almas (4) The Usos (5) Peyton Royce (6) Nikki Cross (7) Drew McIntyre (8) Baron Corbin
This has been obvious for quite some time now. >_>

He's gonna wrestle again, but it won't be in WWE.
If you feed them, they'll continue. It's that simple.
Why do you continue to watch something that you don't like weekly? I don't get it.

No shit. DBry isn't signing anything that doesn't involve him stepping back into the ring.

Well the reason I'd be worried isn't even his current state of health, it's what he might do in the ring to prove he's fine.

And I believe that too, but at the same time testosterone levels and pride can run high when you're not expecting it. It's that sort of shit that damn near killed Shibata.

DBry when he's completely calm and in control, could work any style and make it great even if it's safe. But 30 minutes into a grueling contest with someone like Okada or Omega? I don't know how straight he'll be thinking at that point.
Burn...let it all burn.

I'm kinda surprised WWE would pay him a main eventer wrestlers salary to continue in his current role.

But I am pleasantly surprised that DBry has shown he can't just be bought with lots of money and he's holding to his convictions.

Also fuck WWE, so that's a bonus. Hope he goes somewhere and has the great matches he's missed out on having for the past 3 years.

Again, I believe that but to a point. Idk how much he'll stay with it when the adrenaline is going. It's VERY easy to lose your sense of self when in a heated match going for a good amount of time.

Daniel's health is fine and better then ever. Most doctors have no idea how to evaluate a wrestler and treat it as a sport or something. He talked about it on the E&C podcast I think. He also said if he gets a bad report he won't do it.

No I won’t feel any guilt

If he is okay with the risk and his doctors say he’s fine then why should I care

Why do any of you even get out of bed in the morning?Doing anything in life is a risk in some form. The only thing is how you personally feel about taking that risk

You can say that about any damn wrestler on the roster. There's a chance anyone can get injured. Look what happened to Stone Cold. He was perfectly fine to wrestle then he got his neck broken. If Daniel Bryan is good to wrestle then he should wrestle.

thats a good way to remove guilt I guess

pretend like somebody dying from an accident is the same as a guy going back in with known issues and dying.

its much easier to say you don't give a shit about his health

WWE's doctor, which I can understand.

If he wasn't healthy enough to do it then he wouldn't be pursuing this, another thing you fail to comprehend.
Ivany2008 2 days ago#49
The single WWE doctor said he wasn't allowed to compete, which is fair, that's Vinces trusted medical doctor, and what he says goes.

I think it was something like 4 other doctors said he was fine to compete, one of which was a very well known doctor that deals with concussions.

I have a serious question though. Why doesn't WWE clear him? Isn't the story that every other non-WWE doctor will clear him but WWE's won't? Why? Like is there a real reason or what?

Are they just being overly cautious? That's not fair and shouldn't be legal (or idk about legalities, but it just isn't right) if he's legitimately well enough to perform.

Cause the 1 doctor who is preventing it is the only opinion that matters. WWE can't ignore his opinion especially when they got dozens of lawsuits each waiting for WWE to directly disregard their talent safety and health so they can collect. They're caught between a rock and a hard place cause they don't want Bryan to go but can't give him what he wants which is to wrestle again.

So again...why not some arrangement to "loan him out" to other feds a few times a year, where WWE gets a fee along w/ Bryan's fee?
He's going to wrestle for someone else no matter what, at least this way he still has the stable WWE paycheck along w/ getting to wrestle a bit and WWE gets some money out of it and it's not happening in WWE so they're not at fault.
Jericho literally just went to NJPW for their biggest PPV of the year and is presumably still coming back to WWE at some point, so...why not?
