Paige shouldn't have been in the ring.
She knew the bump was coming and even moved into it because she was too far away. Yes Sasha probably hit her too hard. But that kinda stuff happens every match. Normally it's a "go take some Tylenol and a shot of beam" not career ending. That says that this was inevitable either because her neck was permanently fucked up or because she didn't let it heal enough. Can't say for sure. |

I don’t like Sasha Banks, but you can’t really blame her. I don’t know the extent of Paige’s injuries but if she just re-injured her neck then she probably shouldn’t have been cleared to wrestle in the first place. If it wasn’t Sasha to re-injure her then it would have just been one of the other women. I mean, there’s no way in hell Paige would be able to wrestle without taking some big bump to the neck eventually.

I don't get the people saying the kick doesn't look hard, looks pretty stiff to me. Regardless, most of the time career threatening injuries look like nothing, like HBKs back injury for example.
When Austin had his injury they wouldn't dream of doing similar spots with him. I'm surprised Paige wasn't as protected.

I don't think people are understanding that it's not the impact that did the damage, but more probably the whiplash on the kick - which is 100% down to the fact that Sasha did put that much force into it.
Paige probably expected to be lightly tapped like every other Diva move out there - i.e. like the Finn Balor Stomp, with the guy not following through full force. I don't know if I blame Banks, but I'm sure as hell not saying she didn't seem to put a lot into it. |

I know this will fall on deaf ears, because there's no changing the mind of anyone dead set on placing blame, but it's unfair to place blame like that. Injuries, including career-ending ones, can happen to anyone, even the most careful of workers. People have moved on from the Joe/ Kidd thing. People have moved on from Seth's involvement in the career-ending injury of Sting and the broken nose of Cena. Shit happens.
As for Paige, I feel like I recall her previous neck injury being very up in the air. I thought I recall back then that it was very questionable whether she'd be able to wrestle again. Perhaps Paige passed the right tests to get cleared by WWE, but she was probably a ticking time bomb. This could've happened at any time. A bad bump fighting Nia Jax. A stiff shot from Asuka. It'd be one thing if Paige had a completely clean bill of health, with no previous injury history, and then someone injured her and ended her career out of the blue. But she spent almost an entire year on the shelf from a neck injury. That's just an unfortunate risk someone with that medical history takes if they step in the ring again.
