- Is there a surprise debuting RR entrant that can compare to AJs RR entrance?

A debut or returning superstar for that matter? I can’t think of anyone. Other than maybe CM Punk but we know that’ll never happen. Feels like AJ is the last high caliber star that WWE never got. So his debut was huge.
Before someone says Omega... Kenny Omega is popular now sure, but let’s be honest he’s not on the same level of AJ Styles. Period. Thoughts?

Imagine if Punk actually did patch things up with WWE to make a one-off entry in the Rumble, though. The same event that's his last night in the company is also the same event he makes his return, albeit for one night only.
If you feed them, they'll continue. It's that simple.

There are only a few.
The Rock would get a thunderous pop no matter what. CM Punk would probably get the LOUDEST reaction, but D-Bry is a very close second. Omega deserves it, but I don't know if the 12 year olds in the stands know him... If Dream debuts this year it will get a massive reaction as well.

Though it wasn't a surprise, the only debut in the Rumble I can remember having as much impact was Vader.
Kenny Omega and possibly Jay Lethal at a stretch are the only ones who I think could make the same impact AJ did as surprise debutants. As for returns, Rock, Austin and Punk would easily make that level of impact. I think at a stretch that a Ken Shamrock could as well.

People KNOW who he is. Punk would get that but he's not coming back. Huge pops could happen for any legends as people are 'nostalgic' a big 'WOW' pop.... Outside of Omega, there's no one really. CM Punk as stated before but that's not happening. Anyway, enjoy your Roman Reigns winning . |

AJ was well known when he debutted in wwe, with his last year being in New Japan, Finn, Shinsuke, Bullet Club, etc. The majority of remaining fans are learning about New Japan, I don't think it'd be more than 1/4. Omega would get a huge pop if he debuted. Maybe not quite as big as AJ but it would be right around that level.
Also, am I the only one that kinda liked the botched camera angle with AJ's debut? It gave me a whole "WTF is going on?" thing when the crowd popped and when it showed AJ, I lost my shit. |
