I gotta agree with him on this one, I haven't seen a WWE shirt since the Attitude Era but I see people wearing Bullet Club merch everywhere. You'd think the "big leagues" would have it together better than a group of guys in their late 20's/early 30's when it comes to branding.

Isn't wwe's number source of sales their store? I have few shirts on there preordered likemy Ronda shirt.

It's like saying psvita has made pc games second rate in shops. It's technically true vita sold more in store but pc sells alit more through steam

What? People in their 20s/30s are fantastic about branding right now, primarily because they are the people they’re marketing to. Very rarely do corporations actually “get” what’s cool, which is why they’re usually too late to the party.

Very true. All of WWE's decisions are made by a 80 year old man and it shows in their product as well as their tacky merchandise. Bullet Club has their finger on the pulse of what wrestling fans want.

The Bullet Club shirts look like real shirts people would plausibly wear outside of a wrestling event. That's why. Especially Jericho's "Alpha Club," shirt.

Heath Slaters' "I need this job. I have kids," t-shirt was a great one for example. Anyone could wear that without the context being completely wrestling related. And WWE just moved them onto RAW and dropped that story.

I've only ever seen one WWE shirt in my whole life. It was the Daniel Bryan "Respect the Beard" shirt. Some asian kid was wearing it.

You'd think Roman Reigns was incredibly unpopular going by them, but kids especially are fucking insane for him. He's like their Undertaker, so cool and big and strong.

lol this is so fucking stupid. people who point to hot topic miss the point. hot topic is the primary place to buy their merch in the states. thats not the case with wwe. if you have 5 places to buy bullet club shirts and 50 stores to buy wwe, you arent going to get an accurate reflection of what is selling more based on just one fucking store. this isnt rocket science. if one store sells 50 bullet club shirts a day and 20 stores sell 5 wwe shirts a piece a day, you arent going to point to bullet club and say they sell more shirts.

of course smarks will ignore this and go lol bullet club is more popular.

Bullet Club has blasted off and become massive, but that doesn't mean NJPW made WWE merch second rate. Bullet Club has kind transcended the company. Yes they are owned by New Japan, but it's not like LIJ or Okada merchandise are putting WWE to shame, it's just BC.

I feel like some people are just looking at the topic title rather than reading the full tweet. Meltzer isn't saying BC shirts flat out sell more numbers overall than WWE shirts. The tweet specifically quantifies his statement as pertaining to merch sold in third party stores. And in fairness, to my knowledge, WWE doesn't really put much merch in third party stores. I think they used to let places like K-Mart and maybe Hot Topic sell some of their merch, but I don't know if that happens that much anymore. As far as I know, the primary places they sell their stuff is through their online store and at their own live events.

Either way, I don't get why there are WWE "diehards" here that are so bothered by BC being a hot, popular brand. Is it doing "WWE numbers"? I mean, probably not, but who cares? WWE isn't the be all, end all, and it's incredibly impressive that anyone has managed to create such a successful brand outside of WWE, and not only that, but for it to be something that has already lasted so many years and will probably continue to exist in some capacity for years to come.

WWE is way too corporate, which hurts it because corporations rarely know whats cool. I mean they think flashing text across the screen like this was a Truth commercial is fucking cool.

The last WWE shirts I have seen randomly in public are Daniel Bryan shirts and WWE hates him..

Not beefing. I agree original tweet is not that. My issue is people twisting that to say WWE doesn't sell anything and if some corrects it then it's WWE mark or WWE diehard .... Over the truth

Like if I posted say sky office numbers of ppvs only to say no wrestling but WWE sells , people should absolutely go "stop misleading" that's my issue.
