- Is USA really that obsessed w/ flags or just a WWE/Vince thing?

WWE has taught me that flags are like America's holy object, they're revered and sacred. Also can't be on the floor, that's like wiping your arse with the bible.
But I also know Vince is the stereotypically old, cranky, slightly racist grandpa that thinks the world still has/should have 1950s values. Like kids don't know what being 'yellow belly' means and don't think that 'bastard' is a horrifying word or ever heard Great Balls of Fire, but Vince is convinced of the opposite. So in short are America really this crazy about flags or is it WWE brainwashing?

We did a musical in 5th grade based on American history and stuff like that. My teacher threatened to pull you out of it if she caught you with the flag upside down, even accidentally.

We were like twenty to thirty years ago... oh and the South still kinda is. But they're generally considered to be stuck 20-30 years in the past anyways .

We really are flag crazy. Apparently its really noticeable if you visit another country and try to take notice of any flags or patriotism displays

It matters where you go. In some places no one cares but in others people will freak out if you don't put your heart over your heart for the anthem. When I was in high school only one kid in the whole grade stood for the anthem and no one cared.

It's an American thing in this case. I believe this weird, over the top patriotic display is to feed that majority. Vince is probably above the flag nonsense.

Many of the people who get wrapped up in the flag , also voted for a man who made fun of a POWs. So take that for what it's worth.

I'm from Louisiana and I can't ever recall any instance of anybody getting offended or whatever over the flag. Back in elementary we had to stand and put our hands over our hearts for the anthem but that was back in the 90s... Dunno if they still do that or not lol.

I don't get offended, but I do show respect for it. I get irritated when I see people displaying a ratty flag, but then again I was in the Air Force for nine years and saw countless flag ceremonies.
