According to most experts, by the time it hits the US continental grounds, it will only be a category 3 tropical storm. It will be extreme, yes, but not catastrophic. It also helps that it's turning north.

You're incorrect about the gulf coast getting hit though. It'll hit Florida and shoot northward up the Atlantic Coast

The storm is as big as Texas. Florida is much smaller than Texas. As the storm moves north up Florida's Atlantic coast, it will cover the entirety of Florida, which includes it's gulf coast.

You never clarified that Florida's gulf coast was what you were talking about. You made a blanket statement saying "the gulf coast" would get hit which is objectively false.
Regardless western Florida won't take a direct hit most likely. It'll probably stick to the eastern part of the state and move along the coastline
