- Raw to broadcast live on Christmas and New Year nights

Wow the talent, both on screen and off, must be pissed at this. And how many people will actually fill the crowd? |
christmas day used to be the biggest gate of the year for the fed at madison square garden

Like I said in the discussion topic, it would be a bit of a dick move to prevent the superstars from seeing their loved ones on Christmas just to put on a half-assed holiday Raw, they better put on a good show.

You think people won't go to Raw on Christmas night? I've been to events like concerts and movies on Christmas they have been packed. People are still off work/on vacation and looking for entertainment.
Casino regulars are the only people in the world who will spend several hundred dollars of real money to try to win $50 in casino cash.

Yeah, I really doubt that the shows are going to be any better than their usual holiday offerings. |

This happens every 7 years. They've had taped or recap shows, in the modern era at least. |
On the one hand, bit of a dick move. On the other hand, just have Christmas on another day if you have to work that day, geez, it's just a day we've all made up, it can be any day you want really.

I've never understood why people go out and do normal everyday things on holidays. But to each their own.
I just know I'd never miss a great meal to camp out at stores for Thanksgiving, or miss out on spending time with family to see a movie on Christmas.

Are people gonna go out those nights?

Are people gonna go out those nights? This is what I'm wondering. They'd need huge main event(s) for this. Brock Lesnar in an actual Raw match? Bring back a legend for one more match? Titles on the line, etc. |

Christmas will fill up. Lol at the people who think the arena won't be sold out. You guys forget that there isn't anything to do on Christmas because everywhere is closed. News Years is a different story though. Movies are open on Christmas. They usually debut movies on Christmas. It's still a matter of if the target demographic is likely to go out on that holiday. I know I probably wouldn't, since my family isn't into wrestling, and even if they were, they wouldn't go out on that night. |
I won't watch on Christmas Day because I'm not really interested in watching sports on Christmas. NYD also has a lot of bowl games worth seeing over another cookie-cutter Raw.
If you want to send WWE a message don't watch Raw on either or both of those nights and don't talk about them online. If ratings and attendance are s*** Vince won't repeat it down the road.

For the people that say there isn't anything to do on Christmas Day, don't you guys spend that day and night with your families?

The NBA has been playing marquee games on Christmas for years. They seem to be doing fine during Christmas.

I've never understood why people go out and do normal everyday things on holidays. But to each their own. I wish more people thought this way, but sadly (especially in retail) Thanksgiving is becoming "Black Thursday". I worked the last 2 years on that day (at about 6 PM). You wouldn't believe the number of jerks that come out to shop for lame "sales". I'm trying to look for a better job, preferably at a place that respects family and is closed on Thanksgiving.

Many families go out on Christmas Day to movies. My wife has a large family, about 25 people just in this city, and they/we always go to a movie on Christmas night together. It's been their traditional for like 15 years now.
I would imagine that Raw will be packed. People will go just because it's Christmas, tickets will be given as gifts, etc. Too many people that have the luxury of being off on holidays seem to forget that the world doesn't stop on these days. My wife is a nurse and had to work Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Years eve/day last year. Granted, I would think WWE would make an exception and do a pre-recorded show for those dates, but we don't know the entire story and the company may be obligated to do live shows due to a contract

I feel for the talent mainly but I'm sure some folks can request to not be on the card. Smackdown folks are probably happy. On the other hand, it's not surprising. Plenty of entertainers work on the holidays. It's like some of their biggest dates. On a podcast AJ Styles mentioned that they are required to be in the city where the live show is the day before the event, so they won't be home for Christmas either.

This sucks for them. I feel bad for everyone that has to do this and all the low level workers who have to go and set up that tron and things on Xmas. Its not like anyone wants this. I sure as hell wont be spending X mas night watching a terrible episode of RAW.

I always felt that Christmas Eve was better than actual Christmas day anyway. On the Eve, there is still the excitement and build up to the holiday. Christmas day only feel super special in the morning, then after that its basically me watching basketball for the rest of the day.
Also, no way Vince misses Christmas RAW. WWE is more important than almost anything to him. |

Can't say that watching 3 hours of mediocre wrestling on christmas sounds appealing. Hell, even if I wanted to watch it, I don't think that would fly with the wife and family.
Oh well, hopefully all the talent and crew get some holiday bonuses.

Even without the box not feeding into the social media buzz could send a message. If they aren't trending on Twitter or getting mentioned elsewhere online then at the very least next year's Smackdown won't be live on Christmas Day.Beware the fanatic! This sucks for them already on the road alot. Let them have holidays off
100 percent agree. Bump this thread instead of making another these people barely are at home and always traveling at least let them get a few holidays to their families or themselves
Again people literally taking up for rich people lol. They aren't the only ones working Christmas even outside of milliionares. Truck drivers, people that work at air ports etc are away from families and make less money too.If you believe in magic and I hope you don't, you always have somebody that will and won't :D.- Boards
