Best Matches: Kane

1995:
  • Unabomb Vs The Undertaker - Smoky Mountain Wrestling 04/04/1995 – 2* - This would be the first meeting of Kane (going by the name Unabomb in Smokey Mountain Wrestling) against his long time rival his ‘half-brother’ Undertaker,
1997:
1998:
  • Kane Vs The Undertaker – Wrestlemania 14 – 1 ½* - This would be the first meeting of Undertaker and Kane in a one on one match. Two "brothers" would go ahead and battle each other to see who would prevail as the number one brother. Long-term booking really comes into effect here, because the pay off was fantastic. I know I’m breaking one of my big ‘rules’ or whatever by saying this, but this is honestly a ridiculous rating for this match, not sure why he rated this so low.
  • Kane Vs Stone Cold Steve Austin – King of the Ring 1998 – 3 ¼* - I still believe Kane’s best look was his 1997/1998 look when he looked like a standard horror villain that just couldn’t be put down, and I’m very happy that he was pushed into the main-event scene against the #1 guy in the company at the time Stone Cold Steve Austin, and not only beat him but won the prestigious WWF Championship.. however this reign would last for a measly 24 hours.
1999:
2000:
  • Kane Vs X-Pac – No Way Out 2000 - 2 ¾* - In 1999, Kane would become a face and ally himself with DX member – X-Pac. X-Pac would get Kane to say his first words (Suck It, ironically), and get Kane to gain his trust.. until X-Pac would turn on him as well as his girlfriend Terri at the time. Kane would not be seen for a while until he, as well as Paul Bearer returned to Raw in 2000 to save Mick Foley, The Rock and other wrestlers from Triple H, The Radicalz and the rest of D-Generation X. I would argue that this is the coolest Kane moment of all time, single handily taking everyone down one by one.
2001:
2002:
2003:
  • Kane Vs Triple H - Raw 23/06/2003 - This match was contested as a ‘Mask Vs Championship match’. It pulled great ratings for WWE who wanted to see what Kane’s face looked like. The intrigue of the last 7 years of seeing Kane unmasked finally came true for all WWE fans, it was like seeing Jason Vorheese without his mask for the first time. The storylines following the unmasking just went onto show how much of a Big Red Monster Kane would become.
2004:
  • Kane Vs The Undertaker – Wrestlemania 20 – 1 ¼* - I’m not going to lie to you, this match sucked. So why is it on this list? Purely because of the promo and build up that helps set up this match and because of the entrances of the returning Dead Man Undertaker and also Kane’s father, Paul Bearer. Kane’s selling of The Undertaker being alive after he had buried him alive is some of the greatest of all time. The feud started back in November of 2003 and went all the way until March of 2004 and it all started because of Kane burying his brother, The Undertaker alive.

2012:
  • Kane Vs John Cena – Elimination Chamber 2012 – 3* - Kane returned in December of 2011 with a new mask and attire; and embraced the 'Rise Above Hate' motto which he tried to get Cena to follow as well.
  • Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) Vs Kofi Kingston & R-Truth – Night of Champions 2012 – 2 ¼* - In 2012 in a strange fashion Bryan playing the heel doing the obnoxious ‘yes’ and ‘no’ chant the crowds were loving him, and the WWE had started a feud with Kane and Bryan throughout the Summer, and then they decided to transition Bryan into a face.. sorta. Kane and Bryan would turn into a tag team and had a memorable moment where they ‘hugged it out’ and various ‘Anger Management’ segments. They were put into a tag team championship match at Night of Champions, and won and became a running joke that each member was ‘the’ tag team champion. I’d honestly go to say that their title reign really helped tag team wrestling when it was a dying breed in WWE throughout the late 00’s and early 10’s.
  • Team Hell No (Kane & Daniel Bryan) & Ryback Vs The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins) - TLC 2012 – 4 ½* - This was The Shields debut match in WWE and it really proved to audiences who didn't know the three members just how great they were and how they were gonna take the WWE to greater places. Bryan got to work with Rollins for the first time since 2008 in their Ring of Honor days, which was fantastic but just a preview of what we should get in the future. All 6 men put on a great performance and really outstanding showing by everyone, one of the best debut matches of all time.
