He's a popular reporter, fan, media specialist.

But he's no legend.

It's like saying Woj is a legend.

Anyone who thinks he is a legend probably think the likes of Kelvin McKenzie and Piers Morgan are legends.

So yeah, hes the furthest thing from. He's a right fucking knob.

He's the most famous dirt guy. That doesn't make him a wrestling legend.

Obviously, the answer is no, but in reality, it's a big yes. This guy has made a living watching and "reporting" on fake fighting for so long that people literally pay him. They are paying some guy, who has never set foot in the actual business of pro-wrestling, to tell them what he thinks is good and bad. The fact he has as much credibility as you or I and yet people actually care about his rating system to the point that wrestlers mark out over what he thinks and go on the internet after their matches to see what Big Dave says about them....and HE GETS PAID FOR IT.. that in itself is legend status.

Honestly, let that really sink in. This guy, a fan like you and I, who has duped people for years into believing his opinion is freakin gospel, is an absolute joke and has made a freakin living off of it. That's some damn skill right there and props to him for being able to do it.

I mean these polls should really just be reworded as "Do you like this person"

Cause that's all this really boils down to for all of these choices.

The most inconsequential motherfucker on the planet could be voted as being a legend just cause they're general well liked despite having a subpar career.

On the other hand someone who clearly is a legend is voted not because the board doesn't like the guy and can't separate their feelings from facts.

Meltzer has had such a huge effect on mainstream wrestling that it's unfair to deny him legendary status. This has nothing to do with the news portion of his career, just his ratings and match reviews. It's because of his disdain for the slow-paced style common in the 80s WWF main event scene that small wrestlers, technicians, and high-flyers were allowed to move past the midcard. If it weren't for him, we'd still be suffering through slow, plodding main events in the Hogan vs. Andre mold. He made wrestlers and fans notice the truth and changed the standards for what's considered a good match.

This board certainly thinks he is.

I hear ya, but I already appreciated good matches. NWA/WCW, WCCW, and USWA had some great matches. I watched every wrestling show I could back then, and I had never heard of Meltzer until the early 2000's.
