One of my friends is a huge Dolph Ziggler fan for some godforsaken reason. I wasn't happy when he told me but I accepted it as long as he kept it to himself and didn't talk about it ever.
Things almost came to a head in January when I had a few lads over for the Royal Rumble and he had a few beers too many and started cheering for Ziggler. Everyone looked at him in horror. I was able to smooth things over by telling everyone he was being ironic and no normal person would actually support a piece of shit like Dolph. Some were suspicious but they accepted it. But now he's taken the nuclear option and bought himself a Dolph Ziggler t-shirt. He said he's tired of hiding his true self and he's going to wear it in public. I've told him to think about his reputation and more importantly my reputation. I can't have people thinking that I tolerate Dolph Ziggler fans because I don't. He said I'm being ridiculous but I don't think it's ridiculous to be upset that your friend cares more about a shitty t-shirt than your public image. I've got two choices, end the friendship or have everyone think I'm sympathetic to Dolph Ziggler supporting degenerates and I only see one choice there. Does anyone have any advice to save this thirty year long friendship? |

If your reputation can be so easily ruined by another person wearing a wrestling shirt then maybe your reputation isn't that strong to begin with and you need to stick with all the other low-reputation people in the world, like your friends.

This is inexplicable proof that TC is actually a real human being with a real life. Wrestling can get pretty heated among friends, similar to college football. I don't think I ever lost a friend over it back in the day but I sure wanted to jackslap some of my friends and their crotchchops and their YOURZ RASSLINZ COPYIN MINEZ!!!!!!

College football at least is legitimate competition whereas pro wrestling is just college football dropouts playing pro wrestler, play fighting in their underwear in a choreographed environment controlled by a 70+ year old man. and people wonder why pro wrestling fans get made fun of in the real world. |

I think you were too hasty in getting rid of him. As a close friend, you should have done more to cure him from this disease first. Go to therapy, hold an intervention, institutionalize him, anything to let him know that you cared.

I wouldn't want to be seen in public with someone wearing a Dolph Ziggler t-shirt (or any other wrestling related t-shirt) either. If you don't want people to treat you like a man child, you have to dress like a respectable adult and that means no gaudy wrasslin apparel.

Friends can disagree. In fact, agreeing on everything would be pretty goddamn boring. Some things though just aren't worth getting flustered about and wrestling (or any entertainment, for that matter) is one of them. |
