nexus were told they were going to win a week before

they got to the arena day of summerslam and ran into jericho & edge who said "we're trying to figure out how to make you look like stars tonight"...while still under the impression they were winning,so laughed it off

arn anderson was going over the finish with barrett and gabriel, barrett thought he was joking to see how they'd react
barrett told him "we need to win this match"
arn said it wasn't his decision and he had to take it up with vince

barrett waited an hour outside of vince's office
vince told him "john is winning because summerslam needs a happy ending"

"He must've been a very important chimp."
Summerslam 2016 ended with Lesnar damn near killing Orton
Summerslam 2015 ended with a screwy unsatisfying finish between Lesnar and Undertaker
Summerslam 2014 ended with Lesnar dominating Cena
Summerslam 2013 ended with Orton cashing in on Bryan
Summerslam 2012 ended with Lesnar making HHH tap out
Summerslam 2011 ended with Del Rio cashing in on Punk

So that Summerslam was the last one with a happy ending.

Didn't Jericho and Edge say in a podcast that they were pissed at Cena for wanting to go over in that match? Or at least one of them was.

Or were they pissed he didn't do anything about it? I forget.

I'm not a 100% sure who was responsible for the actual booking, but Cena was in fact fine with the ending ONLY until it actually happened then it settled in which resulted in Cena going "damn it, you know what, you were all right, that ending was a bad idea"

They were annoyed at the result in general regarding Nexus losing, but they were specifically confused at Cena for doing the DDT on Concrete spot and still winning the match. They made it seem as if they would've been more ok with the result if not for that, which was what they didn't get.

I think it was more to do with how it ended. Cena gets killed with a DDT on concrete then comes back as if nothing happened.
You can't grasp the true form of TheGM's post.

Yeah that's what I was getting at, Cena apparently thought it was all fine and dandy then we it ended he basically went "damn, that was stupid".

To be fair, that probably means they learned their lesson. There doesn't always need to be a happy ending to a big show.
Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture
Can't believe some people here still defend that DDT onto concrete. Rediculous.
